How does the commission work?

Written by Matthew Snell | Aug 6, 2022 5:28:00 AM

When you sell any type of travel – whether it be a flight, hotel, or cruise – you earn a commission from the supplier. The way it works in the travel industry is you'll receive commissions once that customers have travelled.

The first thing that is worth knowing is that the commission you earn on a booking can be different depending on the type of holiday you book. Why? Because holiday suppliers pay different percentages.

We say as a general rule of thumb. Commissions have the ability to earn on average 10% of any booking value. So, a £ 10,000-holiday booking would generate around £1,000 in commission.

Please Note: You can find suppliers that will pay a much higher % and depending on which franchise package you choose, you'll also have the ability to earn more on each booking.

What you earn on commission from a flight booking, compared to a boutique hotel, or car parking space at an airport will vary. A booking for a package holiday in Spain will bring you a different commission compared to a round-the-world, tailor-made trip.

It makes the question “How much will I earn?” difficult to answer as it's not black or white. It will depend on what type of bookings you do, which suppliers you use and how many bookings you make.
